Assessments determine the individual’s goal areas from which a treatment plan is developed. Data is gathered to determine the effectiveness of music therapy and to revise goal areas as needed.
A music therapist has had extensive training and is board certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). The governing body for music therapists is the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). A strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Clinical Practice is followed and on-going education is required of every music therapist.
